HOW IT ALL BEGAN
In 1998, we witnessed factors contributing to academic failure and behavioral incidents among our city's students. This observation motivated us to address this problem. Our goals at that time was to teach students critical thinking to learn how to evaluate information received through media representation.
In the community room of a 18 floor residential building in El Barrio, East Harlem, NY, in partnership with the UPACA Tenants Association and the 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement; we offered workshops in Egyptian culture, wealth building and community and police relations. We haven't been operating since the early 2000's, but we are back with a new innovative approach to self-sustainability
